Birds of Poole Harbour, United KingdomView map
Birds of Poole Harbour are now offering new bespoke boat tours. These exclusive 3-hour charters offer a unique perspective of the harbour, unlocking birding opportunities unavailable from land and are complete with Birds of Poole Harbour commentary throughout. The ideal field trip for any natural history, environmental or RSPB group with an interest in Poole Harbour and it's spectacular birdlife!
Poole Harbour supports nationally and internationally important bird populations, providing stunning birding possibilities year-round. Winter is arguably the most exciting season to explore with up to 25,000 waders and wildfowl overwintering within the harbour. Averaging only one metre deep, Poole Harbour's nutrient-rich mudflats are vital to it's overwintering Avocet, Black and Bar-tailed Godwit, Spoonbill and more! Grebes, Divers and Seaducks exploit the harbour's shallow depths and shelter while Marsh and Hen Harrier, Peregrine Falcon and Merlin all take advantage of the abundant prey during the winter. Perfectly situated on the South West coast, there's the possibility for anything to turn up at times of passage in spring and autumn, and the summer months offer the chance to encounter our over-summering Ospreys as well as enjoying the important Mediterranean Gull, Common and Sandwich Tern colonies situated within the harbour.
3-hour Trip: £900 | Maximum capacity: 50 people
