Holes Bay is one of the most important sites in Poole Harbour for overwintering birds with huge flocks of waders and waterfowl spending time here. The site supports hundreds of Teal, Wigeon, Shoveler, Pintail, Avocet, Dunlin and sometimes thousands of Black-tailed Godwits amongst many other species. This winter has been a particularly impressive year for the site with record numbers of Black-tailed Godwit, Pintail, Knot and Shoveler all being recorded for the site. With this being such an accessible site, it is a fantastic place to see and learn about the important bird species that are found here.

Join our team for a free Pop-up watch at anytime during the sessions to discover more about our winter visitors as our local experts point out these species. We will provide several spotting scopes to give close views of the birds on a rising tide. There is no need to purchase tickets just come along on the dates and times below.

Where to find us: Our team will be set up in the NE corner of Holes Bay on the stretch of cycle path between the McDonalds car park and the eastern boundary of Upton CP https://w3w.co/deeper.live.logic. Nearest parking will be Upton CP or the site is easily accessible via bike through Upton CP or from Poole Town Centre.

Time: Join us anytime between 9am and 12pm on the dates below. Please note, these events are weather dependent and subject to change/cancellation.

Cost Free: Donations welcome, a contactless donation station will be on hand to accept donations.
