Intro to Urban Birding: Holes Bay

Explore the natural riches nestled within the urban side of Poole Harbour with our series of urban guided walks. Situated at the most northern fringes of the harbour, the large tidal bay is a bustling winter birding site, supporting several hundred Teal and Wigeon and Black-tailed Godwit, as well as smaller flocks of Avocet, Dunlin, Redshank and Oystercatcher. Join our team for a free walk to explore these productive shorelines and learn about some of our more unfamiliar winter visitors.

Booking is essential. Please let us know if you have booked and are unable to attend so that we can make the space available for someone else. Meet in the Upton Country Park car park, ten minutes before the advertised start time (car parking charges apply). Walk type moderate to easy with fully accessible route for motorised wheelchairs and trampers.

If you require binoculars we have plenty of spares to borrow free of charge.

These free guided walks have limited capacity and so we advise that guests only attend a maximum of one Holes Bay Urban Birding Walk, to ensure that as many different people as possible have the opportunity to attend.
