Following on from our popular series of Introduction to Birding courses last autumn, local conservation charity Birds of Poole Harbour have partnered with Careys Secret Garden once more to bring birdwatching to life with exclusive access to Carey Estate.

Focusing on the various aspects of birding in and around Poole Harbour, the events set out to understand birds, unpack identification techniques and learn why conservation efforts are so important. A private guided tour of the estate is also coupled with a bird ringing demonstration, offering the perfect opportunity to go through key ID features up close, working through how to recognise each species in the field and learn about the importance of the ringing scheme.

Suitable for beginners, improvers and anyone looking to learn more about bird identification, behaviour and conservation.

Dates
Thursday 22 September, 8am to 12pm
Thursday 13 October, 8am to 12pm

What to bring
The guided tour of Carey Estate will involve a moderate 3km walk (approx.) with some slight inclines and takes place outdoors so please dress suitably for the weather conditions and wear stout walking shoes or wellies. Binoculars will be available for all guests to borrow. Please note that the event is dependent on the weather conditions, particularly to ensure welfare of the birds during the ringing demo.

Unfortunately, the estate is not wheelchair accessible. However, if you are interested in joining an accessible bird ringing demonstration at Careys Secret Garden, please check our demos taking place earlier in August!

Tickets are available via the Careys Secret Garden website.
