CrossbillWoodlarkCuckoo

Morden Bog is an open, wet heathland habitat surrounded by coniferous and deciduous woodland. May is by far the best time to visit as Hobby and Cuckoo return back from Africa and dash around the heathlands. Woodlark should be singing as we arrive and Dartford Warbler can be found flitting from gorse bush to gorse bush. Turning to the woodland, Redstart should be singing and with a bit of luck we’ll see the stunning males as they prepare for the breeding season ahead. The woodlands may also feature Crossbill, Siskin and Spotted Flycatcher, all accompanied by the cronking and acrobatic displays Ravens overhead - and there's even the chance of encountering an Osprey!

The course will aim to unpack bird sounds, separating those tricky confusion species like Meadow and Tree Pipit, by combining vocalisations with field skills and breaking down of diagnostic plumage characteristics. Our 3.5hr course will equip you with all the information and skills you'll need to head out this spring and approach bird ID with a newfound confidence and enthusiasm. Each course is limited to 10 attendees, offering a more intimate and exclusive experience. Binoculars will also be available to any participants, if required.
