In the summer of 2017, Birds of Poole Harbour partnered with the Roy Dennis Wildlife Foundation and Wildlife Windows to deliver the Poole Harbour Osprey Translocation Project. By releasing Scottish chicks into the Poole Harbour area, the aim of the project is to restore a breeding population of Ospreys to the South Coast for the first time in nearly 200 years. 2021 welcomes a return to the project after a pause last year. We’re offering ten trips this summer for you to see and learn first hand from the project leaders about these incredible birds.

Osprey’s migrate through Poole Harbour every spring and autumn, with peak passage occurring around mid to late August, when up to five or six birds can be present. Our dawn boat trip will see us explore one of their favourite hunting areas, the Wareham Channel. You’ll be guided by one of the project leaders who will talk you through the project, the birds and the hopes and aspirations of the project.

So, if you love Ospreys and you love the summer then join us by hopping on board!

BOOKING ESSENTIAL - Please note, these trips are weather dependent. Although every effort will be made to run, if the captain decides that the weather prevents us from running then the trip will be cancelled and a full refund will be available. We're currently only offering a restricted number of tickets based on government guidelines, but should the restrictions ease and capacity for each trip increase, we’ll allocate more tickets if we know it’s safe and responsible to do so.

We are pleased to offer free places on our cruises for young children (under 5s). Please get in touch with us if you have any young children in your party, either by email (bookings@birdsofpooleharbour.co.uk) or phone (01202 641003), so that we can reserve space for them on your trip.
