Sunnyside Winter Ringing Demos
- Multiple sessions available from 29 Jan 2025 to 26 Feb 2025
- Sunnyside Farm car park
Sunnyside Farm is a small wetland site managed by Natural England situated near Wareham. In partnership with Natural England and Stour Ringing Group, Birds of Poole Harbour are offering the unique opportunity to join us in the field to learn about and observe the ringing of Jack Snipe, Common Snipe and Woodcock. These hardy winter visitors are primarily nocturnal feeders, making them very difficult to find and observe in the field. However, with the latest advances in technology and techniques, the number of these species being ringed has increased, allowing us to deliver public ringing demonstrations, talking through our work and the ringing scheme, all while providing valuable information on these threatened species to the BTO (British Trust for Ornithology).
At Birds of Poole Harbour we pride ourselves on delivering a wide range of educational events, giving our guests different opportunities to learn about our work and our amazing landscape. With insights into bird populations and identification, as well as local species recovery and partnership projects, we hope to share our understanding of how Poole Harbour functions and supports its incredible birdlife.
