The Ham Common Osprey and Eagle Watches are back!

In 2022 Birds of Poole Harbour, along with BCP council and Rockley Caravan Park installed a viewing platform at Ham Common Nature Reserve, which gives a fantastic view of the Wareham Channel, a perfect place to see Ospreys and White-tailed Eagles! We are pleased to confirm that Birds of Poole Harbour will be returning to Ham Common again this August and September to host free Pop-up watches to see these species and more.

Drop by to learn all about the Poole Harbour Osprey Translocation Project while scanning the Wareham Channel as birds set out on their fishing rounds. Wareham Channel is Poole Harbour’s premier fishing hotspot, with August to early-September being the peak time to spot Osprey in the harbour as migrants fuel up before continuing south to their wintering grounds in West Africa.

This also happens to be the core of the White-tailed Eagle pair's territory, using this area to hunt, often taking fish from the shores of the Wareham Channel.

• Cost Free -  Donations welcome - a contactless donation station will be available.
• Feel free to drop by at any time during the watch and stay for as long as you like!
• All events are weather dependent. Please be sure to check our social media channels before attending if weather conditions are uncertain.
• These events are fully accessible with full wheelchair access to the viewing platform from the car park
