Osprey Celebration: Musical Performance with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama
- Tuesday 16 June 2026
- 10:00 am - 7:30 pm
- Careys Secret Garden, Wareham, Dorset, BH20 7PG, United Kingdom
We're excited to be holding a celebratory event for the Poole Harbour Osprey Project on 16th June in collaboration with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Careys Secret Garden. We'll be celebrating 5 years of successful breeding of the Carey Ospreys, the first nesting pair of Ospreys in the south of England for 180 years at the gardens, with a musical performance from the Guidlhall School of Music and Drama. Students and Professors from the school have been writing pieces of music for piano and electronics, having been inspired by the fantastic nature recovery story of the Ospreys and will be performing these new works, live in the gardens for the public to enjoy. These performances will include the world premiere of a new 'Osprey Sonata'! This has been composed specially for the event by Professor Matthew King (The Music Professor on Youtube) and Professor Nye Parry.
The entire ticket price for the event will go towards a fundraiser for Birds of Poole Harbour to support the work we do in supporting Osprey Recovery and engaging with people about nature recovery. The Gardens will be open from 10am - 7:30pm and the performance itself will run from 3pm-6:30pm. Booking for the performance is essential as there are limited places available. There are the beautiful gardens to explore throughout the day along with seeing the Osprey Statue, watching the Osprey Webcam, hearing about the Poole Harbour Osprey Project from BoPH staff and food and drinks available from the cafe.
Please note that your ticket does not include a visit to the Osprey Nest. The nest is highly sensitive, with Ospreys being Schedule 1 protected species, so guided access to the Osprey Viewing Platform is only available by separately booking an Osprey Tour here. The Osprey Tours on 16th June will also give you access to the gardens and the performance on this day, but places are limited so as not to impact the birds.
