Birds of Poole Harbour is a registered charity dedicated to boosting the profile of bird conservation, preservation and observation in and around Poole Harbour. As this tick list proves, we are exceptionally lucky with the sheer number of species that grace our shores every year, with up to 25,000 waterfowl descending on the harbour every winter along with a bountiful range of spring and summer migrants. Poole Harbour benefits from several protection designations including being a Special Protection Area, hosting multiple Sites of Special Scientific Interest and is also a RAMSAR wetland of international importance.
Taxa are sequenced per family, with both common and scientific names given. Poole Harbour Status (e.g. Breeding, Winter Visitor, Vagrant) is given and notable subspecies are listed.
